logo My name is Christopher Smith, and I am the new guy on the block! I will be the Westport librarian for the 2010-2011 school year. I have a BA, MSE, EdS, & EdD all in education. I have taught for 11 years in just about all elementary grades with last year teaching kindergarten. I enjoy riding my bike, running, chasing after my cat, Cujo, and most of all reading comic books (Go Superman!). I am glad to be a part of the Westport staff and am looking forward to the new year.


logo I am Mrs. Nancy Martin and I am the Computer Teacher at Westport. I have been married for 29 years to James Martin, I have three children: two daughters (Nicole and Jamie) and a son (Chris) who are all grown and attend college. I have two little dogs: "Skittles" (my little Maltese) and "Buttons" (my little designer dog half maltese and half pomeranian known as a Maltipom). I have been a teacher for 13 years in Private School starting in 1981. In 1993 I started with Springfield Public Schools as Administrative Assistant to a Principal and worked with Homeless and the Missouri Hotel checking attendance, working with Principal on projects. I Substituted for 3 years in SPS Offices and then worked in Wonder Years for 3 years and Title One Math and Reading. I have since been with Westport Elementary teaching Computers. I have a B.S. from MSU an M.S. in Counseling from Liberty University and I am certified to teach H.S. Social Sciences. I have worked in Education for 28 years. My prior occupation was Credit Manager. My hobbies are playing the piano, singing, scrapbooking,and I also like to read and write.


logo My name is Rita Bear and I am the Art Teacher at Westport. My husband and I have been married for 35 years. We have three children, two are teachers and one is an Administrative Assistant in the Dietary Department. I also have one grandson and a wonderful son-in-law. I graduated from Southwest Baptist University with my Bachelor Degree in Art Education and my Masters in Education. I have taught in the Springfield system four years. I enjoy painting, photography, drawing, and pretty much anything that has to do with art. I also enjoy reading a good book, gardening, canning, playing and listening to music. You will find me in room 114 at Westport Elementary. Please remember to dress your child appropriately on art day. Sometimes we get a little wild with the paint. GO WILDCATS!

My name is Isaac Enochs. I have been teaching orchestra at Westport for three years. I have B.M.E from Evangel University. My hobbies are practicing violin and viola, reading, and spending time with my lovely wife Heather.

My name is Laura Lawson, M.S., PLPC, and this is my second year as the full-time school counselor at Westport Elementary. I was born and raised in Newport, Vermont, and moved to Springfield in 2002 to complete my education. I love working with children and their families, as well as collaborating with fabulous members of the school system and community. My husband, Chris, also works in the district at Pipkin Middle School. This is his fourth year teaching 6th grade mathematics, as well as coaching 7th grade basketball. We have one daughter, Natalie, who was born April 21, 2009. This year, I am excited to be involved in the HABIT Hoorah assemblies, co-lead Student Council, and run an after school dance program. It is going to be a fantastic year!
