During the 2007-2008 school year, our classroom embarked on a new journey.  We started the process to become an eMINTS classroom!

What is eMINTS?

enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies,
otherwise known as eMINTS, was launched  from the MINTS project that began in St. Louis, MO with just six school districts to reveal the impact technology could have on teaching and learning .  Today, eMINTS has spread across the nation as well as to Australia

What sets eMINTS apart from other initiatives?

A classroom powered by technology” is infused with inquiry-based lessons” and high quality lesson designto deeply engage students in real world applications and higher level thinking.  The teacher and students build a classroom community” where everyone feels comfortable to share and encourage one another to take control of his/her learning.   Teachers, themselves, are in a community of learners as they undergo extensive training (250+ hours) to understand all the components of eMINTS and how to best begin the implementation of this exceptional program.

How is our eMINTS classroom "powered by technology"?

  • Student to Computer ratio is 2:1
  • Teacher Laptop/Workstation
  • SmartBoard
  • Digital Camera
  • Scanner
  • Laser & Color Printers

What classes at Study Middle School are eMINTS?

In May of 2007, Mrs. DeVries, 7th grade math teacher, and I applied to become some of the first middle school eMINTS classrooms in Springfield Public Schools. We were thrilled when we heard were we accepted to be part of the first ten middle school teachers to begin training in the Fall of 2007. Before school our classrooms were equipped with large 4 person tables designed to hold the new computers that arrived in January 2008.
