History of Shady Dell Elementary

Shady Dell school was built in the late 1800s with two classrooms, restrooms, and a kitchen, and had an enrollment of 35 students.  It was maintained as a small county school until January 1, 1954, when all school districts in Missouri were extensively reorganized.  While closed from January 1 to September 1, 1954, Shady Dell underwent extensive remodeling before being annexed into the Hickory Hills District in 1956.  Since that time, the school has received two additions with the latest addition including a learning resource center, kitchen, gymnasium and offices.
