NetSmartz

Internet Safety is one of the main focuses of the computer lab time for all classes at Sequiota. Mrs. Young is very passionate about making sure that her students know how to make safe decisions online and to have rules in place for when they do go online. The main curriculum that Mrs. Young uses is the NetSmartz Workshop. This is a great FREE program online that teaches students about the internet and how to navigate it safely with the help of a trusted adult! With the help of Clicky, Webster, and Nettie: students will be taught online safety rules, like- ask first before going online, take a friend to make sure you go someplace safe, just say no if someone asks to meet you in person, and tell a trusted adult if you see something that makes you feel uncomfortable. Check it out for yoursel at www.netsmartz.org

The second resource that Mrs. Young uses is CyberSmart Curriculum. This is also a FREE resource that is full of lesson plans for teachers, as well as great activities for parents to do with their kids online. We use this resource to talk about cyber-bullying, online ethics, netiquette, and online safety. It has great creative lessons that the kids love.
