General Information

GRADING SCALE

The grade card for second grade uses the following descriptors for assessment:

• ND = Not Demonstrating Skill
• E = Emerging skill (Beginning to demonstrate with varying degrees of success.)
• P = Developing with Practice (Demonstrates with assistance)
• M = Mastery (Demonstrates consistently without assistance)

When assessing work samples, we will use the following symbols:

• A star = Mastery
• OK = Developing with practice
• A checkmark = Needs improvement

We will use daily occurrences to learn how we can achieve a productive and harmonious learning environment. Students have created rules that will help maintain such an environment. They will also be engaged in daily problem-solving opportunities that will promote individual accountability for one’s actions along with developing awareness for how those actions affect others.

SNACKS

Second grade does not have a designated snack time each day. Students may bring a healthy snack to school if their learning is being impaired by hunger. Parents with be notified if the snacks become a distraction. Snacks for the teachers are greatly appreciated.
