SPELLING
On a full sheet of lined paper:
1. Use the 'ch' chunk to build 4 words. Each word must begin with ch.
2. Write each word.
3. Use all 4 words in one sentence.
4. Use the ch chunk to build 4 more words. Each of these must have ch at the end.
5. Write each word.
6. Use all 4 of these words in one sentence.
Example: Using the th chunk.
Words: thankfully, thoughtful, thin, thumb
Sentence:
Thankfully my thumb is a thoughtful guy and never makes the other fingers feel bad that they are so thin.
SCIENCE
Observe a tree near your home. On a full sheet of paper:
1. Write the changes you have observed in the tree over the past two weeks.
2. Sketch (draw) the tree.
3. *Make a rubbing of a leaf from the tree.
4. Identify what type of tree it is.
* Place a leaf under a blank piece of white paper. Use a crayon and rub the paper on top. You should see the shape of the leaf on the paper.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Read an article from the newspaper or internet.
Write a summary of the article, including how the issue affects you.
*A copy of the article must accompany the assignment.
