Orbis Pictus Award for
Outstanding Nonfiction for Children

1990-2012

The Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children, established in 1990 by the National Council of Teachers of English is an award for promoting and recognizing excellence in the writing of nonfiction for children. The name Orbis Pictus commemorates the work of Johannes Amos Comenius, Orbis PictusThe World in Pictures (1657), considered to be the first book actually for children.
