| We have
freshman, junior varsity, and varsity volleyball teams at Parkview.
Vikings volleyball have been successful over the last several years,
winning Districts three times, most recently during the
2004-2005 season. In addition, we have had many Viking volleyball
players go on to play at every level of both the NCAA and NAIA.
The Lady Vikings start their season in the summer with rigorous
workouts and camps. Practice usually starts the second week of August,
with the two practices per day until the first day of classes. For more
information about camps and practices you can contact the Parkview
office (523-9200). Although these athletes practice hard during the
summer they also have plenty of fun. Each summer the girls participate
in teambuilding activities such as lake trips, ropes courses, BBQ's,
trips to Silver Dollar City, and much more. The girls become a family
and support system for each other.
Volleyball is a wonderful sport to participate in and helps our young
ladies mature as women and not just athletes. Most of our team
participates in other school activities and sports throughout the year;
this is highly encouraged so they can grow into well-rounded students.
In addition, we pride ourselves with our outstanding academic
accomplishments. During the 2006-2007 season, all 9 varsity girls
were selected to the Academic All-Conference and Academic All-State
teams.
Each year when the season ends, the girls take a month or so off and
then start again with off-season workouts. In addition, most of the
girls play club volleyball for area teams.
