Can you run, jump, or throw? Then the track and field team needs you!! With 18 different events, there's something for everyone. Track events emphasize techniques that can be learned and speed, which can be improved. Track can improve your performance in other sports. (Did you know that basketball great Jackie Stiles won the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 meter runs at her state meet in Kansas and that she has the record for receiving the most medals at the state meet?)
Track team participation gives you the opportunity to receive awards, participate in team and individual events and travel to competitions with other Missouri schools and those from other states.

The Track team's Booster Club plays a big role in helping the Track and Field teams with their support.

" If you truly think about it, running is the base of almost every sport. This is the perfect off-season sport. Because of Track and Field I now have new friends at other schools in Springfield and other towns. You don't have to be great in middle school to participate in high school. When I was in middle school I didn't win the hurdles in all city, but now I 'm all state. Two of my best events are 2 of 3 events that middle school didn't even have. I almost didn't run track as a Freshman and I would have regretted it. Don't do something you will regret! Hope to see you out next year!"
