PHS site team was created in 1991 in response to the R-12 school district's focus on site-based management, which encourages decision-making at the building level rather than mandating a "one size fits all" approach in every school. Site team's purpose is to promote school improvement and student involvement in many ways through the collaboration of faculty, staff, parents, community members, and most importantly, STUDENTS!

Over the years, many topics have been tackled, adopted, or rejected by Site team. Site team adoptions include "Papa Viking," our school mascot, and the Viking Endowment Fund. Other areas addressed include an in-depth study of the hot temperature within our building, research on parking lot repair, and a recommendation concerning the head gear policy. Site team activities include a trivia competition created for VIP classrooms to increase student involvement and work days to spruce up our grounds. Additionally, site team designed a showcase in the front lobby to highlight student achievement and awards. Task force s including PHS site team members have been formed to address various district issues including the recent passage of the bond issue.

Members also work within standing committees (Student Involvement and School Marketing) to address concerns or create something new for our school. Decisions are made through the process of consensus following study, report presentation, and discussion. As a result, meetings are lively and an excellent way to keep current on everything at Parkview.

If you want to have your voice heard, if you want to vote on issues that matter to you and will affect your life while you attend Parkview, and if you want to be treated as the intelligent person that you are, join us on site team. We meet after school on the first Monday of each month in the PHS library and enjoy great refreshments! Membership is open to interested students through an application process. Freshmen do not join site team until the beginning of the second semester to allow them the opportunity to accustom themselves to high school, but anyone may come at any time to observe or join in the discussion. We hope you will consider this "After Hours" choice.
