The Parkview High School Chess Club is seven years old and was started by sponsor Mike Brown as a result of a student request. Seven years ago our PHS squad began attending the KHS Chess Tournament. Today, Chess Club hosts tournaments of its own here at PHS.

In the fall, individual chess players participate in tournament while team competition occurs in the spring. Our state tournament takes place in Jefferson City in February.

Chess Club meets after school for 1 - 1 ½ hours twice a week. Our club incurs some experience that we defray by staffing concession stands at other sporting events. There are no dues to join and the only requirements for club membership are a love of chess, a competitive streak and semi-regular participation. If you like strategy games, meeting new people and some spirited competition, come give Chess Club a try.
