ADVANCED SEARCH TECHNIQUES    

1.  Use the search engines advanced search                                         

2.  Use Boolean Operators  AND/OR/NOT

examples:

Washington and Lincoln  (you would get only webpages with both words)

Washington or Lincoln (you would get webpages with either word)

Washington not Lincoln (you would get webpages that contain Washington, but not Lincoln)

3.  Phrase or Proximity searching

Use quotation marks to inform the search engine the words you are searching for need to be grouped together.

example:  "stem cell research"
