We have had a great start to the 2011-2012 school year. This is because we have  great support from our      PTA, wonderful parents who make sure their children are ready to learn, and staff that is dedicated in  making sure our students have the best learning environment possible.   I have a few reminders for you:

Open House was September 27th.  We appreciate your taking time to make that evening a success!  If for some reason you weren’t able to attend, please contact your child’s teacher or the office to get a Parent/Teacher Conference scheduled.  We hope to have 100% participation with Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Our traffic flow in the mornings and afternoons seems to be doing well.  There are a couple of ways that you can pick up your child safely. Staff members are in each of these areas in order to supervise students.

**Car Line- Although this line is long, we usually have students safely in their cars by 3:45 or 3:50. Please do not walk up and pick up your child at the cafeteria doors. This area gets a bit congested if we have parents trying to pick up students there as well.

**Walkers- All walkers must go out the front doors. We have supervision in this area. You may meet your child in the front and walk to your car with them or they may cross at the Broadway crosswalk and meet you there or walk to your car. (most people park on Swan) Students who walk home going south need to cross at the cross walk on Broadway or with the teachers on duty to cross the parking lot. There are two teachers who do this. One to cross them at the front entrance and another to cross the exit of the parking lot. If they are going north, they need to cross with the teacher who is at the Katella crosswalk.

**We do have Prime Time at Mann. Those students are to go to the hallway by the art and music room.
Students who go to Park Crest meet in the gym.
Students who go to Cox meet in the front by the doors.

**If you have ONLY a kindergarten student, you will need to enter the parking lot in the "passing lane" to pick up your child. If you have students in other grade levels as well, your kindergartner may go to the cafeteria and wait there. In this case, you will be in the regular car line in order to pick up all of your children at one time.

**Please do not use the passing lane to pick up your children. We have had some people pulling in from Broadway and stopping in the passing lane and having their child get in the car from there.

**We have had a few issues with students walking across the parking lot to meet parents who have parked there to wait for their child in the car. You may meet them at the front doors and walk across with them to your car. The parking lot is very busy after school and it is not safe for the students to walk in the parking lot alone.

I appreciate your help in making sure the students get home safely each day. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call me. Thank you again for a great beginning. We appreciate all you do for Mann.

Respectfully,
