Letter
from the PTSA President: Lisa Boeding
Dear Kickapoo Parents:
My name is Lisa Boeding and I am the Kickapoo PTSA President
again this year. I look forward to a great year and welcome any
parent who wants to help out on the board. We need your support.
We are unfortunately starting
the year again very low on funds. We need your help and support
in order to continue to offer the
scholarship program and the school events that we currently fund.
We had a goal last year of ten $500 scholarships, but fell short.
We were only able to award seven scholarships for $250 each.
We would like to be able to award ten scholarships for $250 each
this year. Watch for more information to come out about your
student applying for the scholarships later this year. Remember
that your child must be a Kickapoo PTSA student member in order
to apply.
Here are some ways that you can all help us:
1. Buy a KHS PTSA individual membership for $10.00. This year,
you will receive a $10 discount card for free when you join.
We have over 1,700 students and have only set a goal of 1100
individual memberships. That includes students, parents, teachers,
grandparents, etc...
2. Buy a PTSA business membership for only $25.00. This is a
great value for your business. We will list your company information
on the KHS PTSA website. You will also receive a certificate
to display at your business. Our goal is 100 business members!
3. KHS PTSA Business members
also have the option to sponsor a scholarship for $250. The
scholarship will be named after your
company.
4. Buy a FEAR THE POO window decal for $10.00 or a stadium cushion
for $8.00. You can both for only $15.00!
Thank you in advance for any support that you can provide to
us. We look forward to a wonderful year at Kickapoo. Feel free
to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

What is the Reflections Program?
For 40 years, the national PTA Reflections Program has encouraged
students across the nation and in
American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents.
This program was started in 1969 by Colorado
PTA board member, Mary Lou Anderson. Since that time, the Reflections
Program has become one of
the most popular programs that National PTA offers.
The
PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance quality arts
education for students in preschool
through grade 12, encouraging them to create works of art in
the areas of dance choreography, film
production, literature, musical composition, photography, and
the visual arts. More than 500,000 students
participate through their local PTAs each year—millions
over the course of the program’s 40 years.
The Reflections Program helps parents
encourage the creativity and lifelong learning of their children,
and offers children recognition for their artistic endeavors.
Parents, teachers, and community members all
play a critical role in providing a positive learning environment
for children. Supporting the PTA
Reflections Program is one way you can increase student achievement,
foster student talents, and
promote the arts in your home, your school, and your community.
