WHAT IS IT?

Kickapoo U is a new program designed to ensure that students are prepared for a relevant and rigorous college and career experience.

WHY?

  • Guides kids in relevant and rigorous course work.
  • Creates a highly focused college and career program.
  • Actively engages students all four years of their high school experience.
  • Encourages students to take advantage of cost savings dual credit classes and free *articulated college classes.

HOW?

  • Complete the application process.
  • Declare a major or pathway of choice.
  • 9th and 10th grades will meet the entrance
    standards for Kickapoo U.
  • Make internships an integral part of the high school experience.
  • Incorporate community service as part of each career path.
  • Use a real life “capstone” project as a corner- stone for relevant and rigorous course work.

WHEN?

During their 8th grade year, students will begin the application process for Kickapoo U. During their 9th and 10th grade years, students will continue to maintain and work towards the Kickapoo U standards.

*articulated credit—when there is an agreement between the high school and the postsecondary institution that gives the student FREE credit for the college class upon completion of at least one credit hour of on-campus course work at the postsecondary institution.

Each student could potentially graduate from Kickapoo U with one to two years of college credit at a significant cost savings.
Kickapoo currently offers over 120 college hours.
