Departmental
Goals: The Special Education
Department at Glendale strives to promote student
achievement and reduce the dropout rate by helping
students through individualized and direct instruction.
Students are encouraged to reach
individual goals and objectives in math, reading,
writing, study skills and behaviors by receiving
special education services.
Ms. Lindsey Hall is a Special Education
teacher and in her third year at Glendale. She
graduated Cum Laude from Missouri State University
in May of 2008 with a B.S. in Special Education
(Cross-Categorical K-12 certified). She is from
Blue Springs, MO. She is the youngest of 4 girls,
and she has a 13-year old nephew, a 3-year old
niece, and a 1-year old nephew. She also has a
Yorkshire terrier named Roxie, and 2 kittens, Zeus
and Zoe.
Mr. Harris is new to Glendale this
year and is currently teaching in his seventh year
within the field of Special Education. He holds
a Masters degree in Special Education from Missouri
State University, and is currently completing his
second Masters degree in Educational Administration
from MSU. Mr. Harris is also a freshman football
coach at Glendale. He hails from the Kansas City
area and when not teaching, enjoys fishing, Kansas
football and basketball, and spending time with
his wife, Kim, and son, Preston.
Mrs. Sara Hester teaches in Special
Education and is the Special Education Dept. Chairman
at GHS. This is her 16th year at Glendale, and
the 10th year teaching here. It is her 22st year
with Springfield Public Schools. She has a B.S.
Degree from SMU in Deaf Education and a Masters
degree in Special Education from MSU. She has three
daughters; Meredith, Lauren, and Maggie, who all
attended Glendale and one darling graddaughter.
Sara enjoys reading, cooking, and rubber stamping.
She is also a big fan of KU Jayhawks.
Mrs. Aimee Norcross is in her 3rd
year as a special education teacher here at Glendale.
She grew up in Hot Springs, AR (the other side
of the Ozark Mountains). While growing up, her
grandparents lived in Springfield where she visited
frequently so she has really been in the area for
years. She has been married to a wonderful, supportive
man, her husband, Tom, for the past 18 years. She
has 2 adorable (especially in my eyes) children,
a daughter Arianna who is 9 years old and a son,
Teryn who is 7 years old. Teaching is a second
career for her. She has spent the past 20 years
as a professional ballroom dancer. Next to performing,
her favorite thing to do is teaching. She has always
been passionate about out teaching and is looking
forward to continuing to applying those skills
here at Glendale.
Ms.
Dina Wilson is the new teacher of the Functional
Life Skills program. She was
a para at Central High School for 3 years. A graduate
of the University of Missouri-Columbia, she is
currently seeking her Master’s degree in
Special Education at Drury. She enjoys communal
gardening, theatre, music, crossword puzzles, history
and politics. She has an Australian cattle dog
and four very naughty cats.
SPECIAL ED PARA-PROFESSIONALS
Sherry Aten has been a paraprofessional
at Glendale for the past 5 years. She is a recent
graduate from Drury University with a teaching
certificate in special education and elementary.
Ms.
Lisa Collins is in her 1st year as a para at
Glendale. She was a para at Kickapoo
for 3 years and a substitute teacher for about
10 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in
English and Writing from Drury University and is
enrolled in the Master’s program at Drury
to specialize in Special Education. Her boyfriend
of 5 years plays the guitar and has 3 children,
one of which attends school here at Glendale. She
enjoys playing World of Warcraft, crocheting and
SyFy.
Mrs. Anna Hill is a para in the special
education dept. She received her BS in special
education cross categorical K-12 from Missouri
State University. She worked 4 years as a para
before substitute teaching and finishing her degree.
This is her first year with Springfield Public
Schools. Mrs. Hill is married and has 1 son who
is a senior at Glendale. She enjoys reading, photography,
swimming, biking, gardening, and spending time
with her family.
Mrs. Debbie Kindig is in her 2nd
year here at Glendale. She has worked in the SPS
district for 8 years as a paraprofessional. She
has one 27 year old son, Casey and shares the house
with her Bingle cat named Freddie.
Mrs. Kolette Nichols is in her 22
year at Glendale. She graduated with B.S. from
Central Missouri University. She and her late husband,
Pete, have two children Sarah a nurse in home health
care and Jason a Vice President of National Business
Development for U.S. Foods. She has 5 wonderful
grandchildren with number 6 on the way.
Mr. Stan Woodall is beginning his
1st year at Glendale teaching Special Education.
This is his 9th year in education. He earned his
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health
from Central Methodist University. This is Stan's
4th season as assistant Football coach for the
Falcons. He is married to Tracy and they have 2
daughters, Erika and Emily.
