VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS

1. SEPTEMBER 28TH: The PTSA is providing snacks and food to the teachers on the afternoon/evening of teacher conferences which will be held on September 28th. If you can bring a dessert or other snack, please contact Shannon Swanson at s.swanson@sbcglobal.net. We will need the food before 1 p.m.....you can just take it to the front office.

2. PRINTER CARTRIDGES. Keep your empty printer cartridges, and if you work, please see if your workplace will let you collect empty printer cartridges, to donate to Glendale. There is a bin in the front office that you can have your child drop them off in. We then send them in and get cash back to help our teachers with their class needs.

3. CLOTHING BANK. Glendale works the Springfield School Clothing Bank on September 29th and February 16th. If you would be willing to help, even if you can't be there the entire day, please email Mary Chalender at mchalenter@ky3.com. Also, if you are cleaning out your closets and have some clothes to give away, please just bring up to the school in the office. We have a bin there for clothes that we donate to the clothing bank. Finally, if you want to donate $$ to the Clothing Bank, this a great time to do it as the Care to Learn Fund is matching every donation made. Please contact please contact Julie Brown at JX2BROWN@aol.com if you have any questions about this match program.

4. PROJECT GRADUATION. We are looking for someone to chair the Project Graduation project for PTSA. We have a lot of people who want to help with Project Graduation, but we just need one person to coordinate our efforts. If you would be willing to be the coordinator, please contact Julie Brown at JX2BROWN@aol.com

5. LUNCHROOM VOLUNTEERS. In years past, we have had two people each day work the cafeteria at lunch time (from about 11:30 - 1:30. All you have to do is help wipe off the tables after the kids leave from their lunch shift. It is a great way to see your kids and catch up with what is happening in the Glendale lunchroom! If you would be willing to volunteer a day a month or more, please contact Julie Brown at JX2BROWN@aol.com.

Benefits of PTSA

As a PTSA member, you are an independent, self-governing organization where all members have a voice. Schools, school districts, or school boards do not control you. You have the opportunity to work together to decide on programs and projects to benefit children.

As a PTSA member, you have access to leadership training, excellent speakers, and networking with other PTAs just like you at the annual convention and leadership training conference. You have access to a network of knowledgeable people to assist you in your growth and development. Whether you have questions about fund raising, liability insurance, IRS forms, parliamentary procedure, or programs, we are here to help you.

Your membership gives Missouri PTA and National PTA more clout when speaking to legislators on behalf of children.

Member Benefits

Visit www.pta.org to find out about discounts from Barnes & Noble and AT&T Wireless for all PTA members. You'll need to get the user name and password from the back of your membership card to get into the site.
