Mathematics
Mr.
Kenneth Bowling is in his 4th year of teaching
Mathematics at Glendale. Kenneth
spent his 1st year at Buffalo Middle School before
coming to Glendale. He received his B.S. from Oklahoma
Christian University in Math Education. Kenneth
earned the highest rank in Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout,
in 1998. His time in school was spent diligently
running track and cross country where he now has
4 NAIA All-American honors. Kenneth is a long time
enthusiast of learning about cars and riding his
bicycle (when he wasn’t running). His wife,
Audra, received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy
at Southwest Baptist University and also enjoys
running. From September 15th to January 31st his
nights are frequently spent gigging for non-game
fish at local rivers.
Mr.
Brent Burton is in his third year of teaching
at Springfield Public Schools.
He will be teaching Integrated Math I, Algebra,
Geometry, and Geometry Honors. He started his career
at Pipkin Middle School teaching Title I Math and
coaching 7th grade football. This year he is coaching
freshmen football in the fall and sprinters/jumpers
for track in the spring. Mr. Burton received his
Bachelor’s degree from MSU in 2004 and plans
to complete a Master’s degree this fall.
Prior to teaching, Mr. Burton was a deputy sheriff
in Johnson County, KS. His wife, Laura, is a nurse
at Cox South on the Women’s and Newborn Care
Unit and is finishing her master’s to be
a family nurse practitioner.
Gale
Clithero is a math teacher at Glendale. This
is Gale’s 9th year at Glendale,
prior to that he spent 18 years at Hillcrest. Gale
graduated with a BS and Masters degree from the
University of Missouri. Gale is married to Susan
Hawkins. Gale enjoys spending time with Susan,
doing chores around the house and yard. Gale is
a big St. Louis Cardinal fan as well as a University
of MO football and basketball fan. Gale also likes
outside sports and activities. Gale enjoys seeing
and hearing from students after they graduated
from high school.
Mrs.
Kim Hickory started her career teaching Mathematics
at Pipkin Junior High after
graduating from SMSU with a B.S. in Education in
1986. Four years later, she transferred to Central
High School and taught there until 1995. At that
time, she returned to her alma mater, Glendale,
where she is beginning her 15th year. In August
of 1997, she received her Master’s Degree
in Education from Drury University. Kim’s
husband, Bill, works for the SPS transportation
department and as a part-time youth minister at
Springfield Community Church. They have one son,
Brent, who turns 17 years old this Christmas Eve
and is a junior at Glendale. Kalleigh is 10 years
old, and is in 5th grade at Eugene Field. Kim enjoys
reading, cross-stitching, old movies, playing the
piano, snow skiing, and shopping for bargains at
local flea markets.
Mrs.
Terry Mayer is beginning her 16th year at Glendale
High School in the Mathematics Department.
She teaches Integrated Math III, Algebra II, Functions,
Math Analysis and Trigonometry. She moved to Springfield
16 years ago from Sarnia, Ontario. Mrs. Mayer received
her Bachelor’s Degree from State University
College at Potsdam, New York, and her Master’s
from Indiana State University.
Mr.
Mark Ruth is in his 16th year of teaching at
Glendale. He is certified to teach
Social Studies and Mathematics. Mr. Ruth earned
his Bachelor’s degree with Highest Honors
from SMSU and graduated in December 1999 with a
Master’s degree in Educational Administration
from SMSU. Mr. Ruth also teaches mathematics at
the Cox College of Nursing and at Drury University.
He is the Boys’ Service Club advisor, a student
organization which conducts Glendale’s blood
drives. A bicycling enthusiast, he participates
in the MS 150 fund raising bike ride each year.
He is an avid University of Tennessee Volunteer
fan. His wife, Paula, is a dental hygienist at
the Children’s Smile Center in Ozark. They
have one son, Brett, who is a Computer Networking
Specialist and one grandson, Lucas, who is a race
car and choo-choo train specialist.
Ms.
Sarah Singer is in her 7th year at Glendale teaching
Math. She received her undergraduate
degree from Southwest Missouri State University
in mathematics education. She taught four semesters
at SMS as a graduate assistant and completed her
Master’s degree in mathematics education
in 2004. Sarah is entering her 10th year as an
assistant coach with the Lady Falcons basketball
team and is in her 7th year coaching the Pershing
Middle School seventh grade girl’s basketball
team. She is also the huddle coach of the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes.
Mrs.
Cara Stull is in her 2nd year at Glendale in
the math department. Cara was born
and raised in Columbia, MO and graduated from the
University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003 with her
B.S. in Education and her Master’s in Curriculum
and Instruction in 2004. She then taught for three
years in the Columbia Pubic School system at Smithton
Middle School. Cara and her husband, Dustin, then
moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and she taught
at the School of the Osage High School for three
years. Last summer, Cara and her husband moved
to Springfield. Dustin works for Terracon in Springfield.
