Departmental Goals: For students to be active on a daily basis in Physical Education, to respect one another, and to learn various activities to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

Ms. Stephanie Bates is the head Volleyball coach at Glendale and also the middle school Volleyball coach at Pershing. She has taught and coached for 16 years, 11 of those years at Salem High School. She has a BA and a Masters in Administration from William Woods University and a Masters in Education from Drury. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling to new places, and participating in and watching all types of sports.

Mr. Howard Bell is the head Baseball coach and the Assistant Softball Coach at Glendale. He has taught for 16 years, the last 8 being at Glendale. He has been married to his wife, Kim, for 22 years and has 2 daughters, Keshia, 22, and Kameron, 15.

Mr. Jeff Berryessa began his teaching and coaching career in Sacramento, CA. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and M.A. at California State University, Sacramento. Mr. Berryessa began teaching at a private school, and after 3 years, received a position at SMSU (now MSU). He taught and coached there for 18 years, until 1996. In 1998, Mr. Berryessa was employed by the Springfield Public Schools as a physical education specialist. This year will be his 12th year coaching at Glendale and 7th year teaching on staff.

Ms. Renee Temple is beginning her 21st year of teaching in Springfield Public Schools. Her first 17 years were at Pershing Middle School. Coach Temple graduated from Glendale, then went on to attend Missouri State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education (Physical Education and Health). Coach Temple is currently coaching the Lady Falcons Basketball team and coaching track at Pershing Middle School.

Mr. Williamson is starting his 5th year at Glendale and his 19th overall in education. He is a graduate of Evangel University and has a Master’s degree in Secondary Administration. Mr. Williamson is in charge of the Boys Basketball program, as well as, the boys and girls golf programs. He is married to Shelly and has three children, Grant 14, Rachel 11, and Brooke 8.
