Departmental Goals: To raise student achievement in Communication Arts by requiring activities to read and apply step-by-step instructions and/or guides to complete projects.

To reduce the dropout rate by providing a program for credit recovery for the Contemporary Living class. Active recruitment of Family, Career, Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members to increase extra-curricular opportunitites with the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) department. Missouri FCCLA

Mrs. Kyndal Bockelman is a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher and Culinary Team Sponsor. She will be teaching Culinary Arts and Food Preparation, as well as International Foods and Specialty Cuisine. This is Mrs. Bockelman’s first year teaching at Glendale High School, She graduated from Glendale in 2005. Mrs. Bockelman received her Bachelors of Science in Human Ecology with an Emphasis in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. She enjoys traveling, movies, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Kyndal Bockelman is very excited to be teaching at Glendale High School.

Mrs. Ginny Chamberlin teaches in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department. This is the 24th year of her teaching career, which includes 2 years at Humansville, 20 years at Glendale and 1 year at Jarrett Middle School. This year her teaching schedule includes Child Development I and Fashion Design. A Springfield native, she received her B.S.Ed. from SMSU and Masters from Drury. Her husband, Jon, works for the Springfield-Greene County Parks Department and they have two children, Michael and Emily, both Glendale graduates.

Mrs. Constance Leonard has a BS degree from SMSU in Housing and Interior Design, Certified to teach FACS from SMSU, and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration from SMSU. She has taught at Glendale from 1989 until 2000; was on leave for two years and resumed teaching at Kickapoo for 5 years. She came back to GHS the 2008-09 school year. She is married and has three children 16, 13, and 10. All of their activities keep her busy as well as her consulting work in the Interior Design field. For the last 8 years she has taught supply courses at MSU in the Interior Design and Fashion Design and Marketing department. It feels good to be home again at Glendale.

Ms. Sarah Sullins is in her 8th year of teaching, and her 6th year at Glendale. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences from SMSU in 2001. She received her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Missouri State in 2006. She is a Glendale graduate and excited to be back as a teacher. She teaches Food and Nutrition, Relationships, and Culinary Arts. She is the club advisor for the FCCLA. She enjoys working out, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
