Departmental Goals: It is our hope to give our students the opportunity to experience a wide variety of both media and technique. The arts demand high standards, analytical thinking, creative thinking, practice, discipline, teamwork, and follow-through, thus preparing students for the workforce and/or the college of their choice.

Mrs. Tracy Bruton has been teaching Art in Springfield for 25 years; 19 of those at Glendale. She is the Art Department Chair. She received her BSE in Art Education at Missouri Southern State and her Masters in GAC from MSU. She is experienced in every grade level, and presents workshops at the local, state, and national levels. Her students have won numerous scholarships and awards and have attended some of the most prestigious art schools in the country. Tracy serves on several committees and sponsors the Peer Mediators. Each summer she travels with students and together, they have visited 14 countries. She is a district “Star Catcher,” a Toyota International Teacher and a finalist for Springfield’s “Teacher of the Year.” She also serves as an adjunct professor for MSU and OTC. Tracy is married and has three sons, two of which are currently at the U S Naval Academy in Annapolis and one who is married with a beautiful little boy.
