Chat-N-Chew
Volunteers participate in a unique program created for 3rd-5th
graders that involves meeting with a group of students periodically
to discuss a book that is read at home by each member of the
group. The book discussions take place during the students’ lunch
time. This begins during the 4th quarter.
Community Awareness
In coordination with a few local charities, volunteers organize
and promote a school-wide charitable giving drive. This occurs
once a year, usually in the month of November.
Cultural Arts
This committee organizes and directs a fun educational event for
the students and teachers that includes the arts, music and culture
of a people, either past or present. Previous years events included:

April 2005 - Passport to Greece
April 2004 - Lewis & Clark, The anniversary of the Corp of
Discovery
Disney Buddies
Under the supervision of a teacher, volunteers tutor students in
reading, writing and math. This requires a time commitment of
at least 30 minutes per week from October through the end of
the school year.
Fifth Grade Banquet
This committee is made up of fifth grade parents who work together
to plan the annual 5th gade party and DARE graduation that take
place in May.
Fall Festival
Volunteers help the chairperson plan and organize this event. Past
themes have included a sock hop, disco and fall carnival. This
is a GREAT opportunity to meet and work with lots of creative
people, and OUR KIDS LOVE THE FUN!
Family Spring Fling
Volunteers assist the chairperson in organizing an exciting social
event for Disney families which includes games, activities and
food stand. This event takes place in the spring.
Health and Safety (Health Fair)
Volunteers on this committee will assist the school nurse in organizing
and promoting events that promote and inform students about personal
safety and maintaining good health. Specifically, this committee
assists with the Disney Student Health Fair. Volunteers assist
the school nurse and committee chairperson in providing students
information about good health as well as assisting with vision
screenings, weight measurement, blood pressure, dental exams
and other health screenings during this one day event that takes
place during the day at school. Volunteers can chose from a variety
of shifts and areas in which to work.
Reflections
Volunteers assist the chairperson in organizing and submitting
students work in the areas of photography, music, drawing, and
story writing to the annual Reflections contest open to all students.
