CONVINCED?  Driving Age, School Uniforms and Television's Influence on Children--these social issues will affect you now or one day soon. 

As you complete your research into controversial issues, you will have investigated both sides of an issue and an author's use of facts and opinions as evidence to support his position. 

While you constructed your own persuasive speech, you combined your thoughts with those of others in order to convince a judge.  You were also able to be a judge and analyze the effectiveness of another presenter.  With your knowledge of these important subjects, you may one day be asked your opinion--and you will have the ability to convince someone. 

Maybe on your 16th birthday you will be able to drive that brand new car, wear your new t-shirt, and watch your favorite cartoon....or maybe you won't!!
