Admission into Pre-IB/IB:
Students who are interested in pursing the IB Diploma at Central High
school apply for admission during the fall/winter of their 8th grade year to
be admitted into Central’s Pre-Diploma program in 9th grade. While the
program is available to all qualified Springfield Public Schools students
entering the 9th grade, students who live outside Central High School’s attendance district must apply for a transfer to Central before the can be
accepted into the Pre-Diploma program.
The first step in the admissions process for the Pre-Diploma program is to attend our information night (see the Events page for this year’s date). During that evening we introduce key components of the IB Diploma Program, discuss program requirements, and explain the application process and deadlines to gain admission to the Pre-Diploma. Click on the link above to download a copy of the 2010-2011 application that may then be completed and mailed in.
The following criteria will be examined for students seeking admission into the Pre-Diploma Program at Central:
8th Grade EXPLORE score (or other standardized score if not entering from SPS)
7th Grade MAP scores (must score Advanced or Proficient)
1st Quarter Grades for 8th Grade
Recommendations from: Middle School Counselor, Math and Communication Arts Teachers
