Campbell Elementary School, the oldest elementary school still in service, is located at 506 S. Grant, less than a mile from the public square. Campbell was built in 1884 on farmland donated by its namesake, John Polk Campbell, the first settler in Springfield. The original school was replaced by the present building in 1931. Campbell's colors are Blue and Gold and the mascot is a Cougar.Mission
The mission of Campbell school is to 'improve achievement of all students' in all areas by instilling positive attitudes, increasing student attendance, and increasing parental involvement.
