Procedures for Boyd Elementary

 

School starts at 8:15am each day.

School ends at 3:00pm each day except for early release days. Boyd Elementary holds monthly early release days for continuing staff development. On these days students are dismissed at 12:00pm noon. Families are notified via calendar, newsletter, phone, and usually stickers on the students of the early release days.

 

Students arriving late or leaving early need to visit the office first. Students will never be released from classrooms without contact from the office,

 

Arrival Procedures

1.         Students should arrive no earlier than 7:30am unless enrolled in PrimeTime.
2.         Crossing guard is on duty at Division & Washington from 7:25 to 8:20am.
3.         Playground is closed before school.
4.         7:30 library hallway doors opened by breakfast supervisor.
5.         Students go to gym for breakfast.
6.         Breakfast served from 7:30-8:05am.
7.         Students arriving later than 8:05am should plan to eat at home.
8.         7:45 supervising adult takes K & 5th students to library.
9.         Students in library will read or have other quiet things to do.
10.       8:00-8:05 classes sent to rooms.

 

Arriving Late

1.         Please contact the school if your student will be tardy (or absent).
2.         Students arriving after 8:15am must check in at the office.
3.         Students arriving after 8:30am must be signed in at the office by an adult.
4.         Student will receive a tardy pass from the office for the classroom teacher.

 

Leaving Early

1.         All students must be checked out through the main office.
2.         Students will only be released to an adult listed on the student enrollment card.
3.         Students leaving will be called to the office.
4.         Parents should always pick up students through office, never classrooms.

 

Dismissal Procedures

1.         The end of day bell rings at 3:00pm. Students are then walked down by their teacher. Parents may wait outside or (in bad weather) in the library hallway – the main lobby should be left clear.
2.         Bus riders are sent to the main lobby with a teacher, who walks students to bus pickup point.
3.         Busses pick up on westbound Lynn St.
4.         Car and bike riders are sent to the library hallway doors to depart.
5.         Car pickup is only done on southbound side of Washington. Never on northbound Washington, unless crossing at the crosswalk.
6.         Cars wanting to park can use parking lots.
7.         Walkers are sent to the south doors to depart with crossing guard aide.
8.         Students cross street only at crosswalks.
9.         Staff members are on duty outside to help.
10.       Crossing guard is on duty at Division & Washington from 2:55 to 3:25pm.

 

Homework (All Grades)

1.         Every class has a weekly packet that goes home.
2.         Packets are usually sent home on Monday and returned on Friday every week.
